The Alaskan Riviera is created by two Canadians, On and Hazel. Every week, we record a podcast in which we discuss an episode of Northern Exposure, the amazing television show which ran from 1990-1995. In this blog, we’ll post pictures, tidbits about the show, and provide thoughts on each episode.
Wanna read about us? We’ve celebrated NX’s 25th anniversary, considered Northern Exposure’s twinship with the other iconic 1990’s TV show Twin Peaks, paid a personal tribute to Sassy Magazine and the show, admired Northern Exposure fashion, and created video essays about the show.

Really great stuff guys, well done, my two favorite TV series of all time were Northern Exposure and Twin Peaks, so naturally I very much enjoyed that podcast, thanks for that Shane, peace guys
Thanks, Ariel. Glad to hear you liked the Twin Peaks + NX podcast. We’re glad there’s someone focusing on Chef Adam.
Love this blog! Thanks a lot. Everyone’s Twin Peaks-obsessed usually (I am a little, too), but it’s nice that Northern Exposure hasn’t been forgotten, either! It’s great to go back to a series where people wear normal clothes and more than once (oh, horror!), and where the main focus is the actual human story!
Hi Jo, thanks for reading. Yes, there is something special about Northern Exposure. We’re very happy people are rediscovering the show and discovering it for the first time!
On and Shane, thank you for doing! I just started re-watching the series, don’t have the time to watch as much as i want. Being able to listen to your podcast in the car is just like watching the show. I esp. like your insights on the music and references in each episode. Keep it up you two!
Thanks so much! We’re glad you are enjoying the podcast. Happy to meet you, fellow Cicelian!
On & Shane, thank you guys, just started watching the series again & this makes me feel like I’m watching a show, driving in my car listening to your podcast. I esp. appreciate you explaining the music and references as well. Keep up the good work you two!
